Kyoto University Glider Club Alumni Association Rakufukai Participating in a roundtable discussion after the regular general meeting

On Saturday, June 25th, the regular general meeting of the glider club alumni association Rakufu-kai was held at Kyoto University Yoshida Campus.

I was invited to a roundtable discussion at 3:50 pm after the general meeting, so due to circumstances, I attended via ZOOM. What kind of roundtable discussion will it be? With this in mind, I started by introducing myself.

We will explain the background behind the establishment of this institute, and hear from alumni and current glider club students.

I received a wide range of questions and answered them as I wanted.

What left an impression on me was a comment from a current student that said, ``The difference in thinking between the pilot and the designer/manufacturer is

What would it be like? ” is the question.

Those dedicated to piloting the aircraft risked their lives to soar into the dangerous skies and land safely and safely on the runway.

I think they are very courageous people who can feel the real thrill of seeing if they can do it.

On the other hand, those who are passionate about design, production, and test flights pay great attention to every aspect of the aircraft to improve its structural strength, maneuverability, and flight performance so that the pilot can fly safely and safely. I think these are people who are passionate about completing the work.

Of course, I don't think you can be a good designer unless you can operate an aircraft.

It's like someone who can't drive is designing a car.

The conversation about model airplanes with Professor Emeritus Toru Watanabe of Ritsumeikan University was also soothing.

There were some interesting questions from other alumni, and I would like to thank them for allowing me to participate in this enjoyable roundtable discussion. In the end, I said, ``Why don't universities with aerospace engineering departments design and develop gliders (light aircraft)?''

We would like to express our gratitude to the 50 people who participated, to Mr. Katayama, Secretary-General who moderated the event, to Mr. Koga, Chairman Koga, to Mr. Iba, who is working hard to preserve the SH-16S, recreate the windshield, and find a new owner.

SH-16S instruments will be provided at a later date.

It's a short story. I also cooperated with several places to find a place to transfer the aircraft, but I can only say that the results were disappointing. New Kitakyushu Airport, former Space World (New Space LABO: Kitakyushu Science Museum), and Studio Ojiburi*.

*Studio Ghibli president Koji Hoshino, producer Toshio Suzuki, and director Hayao Miyazaki considered this.

After a while, he said, ``Thank you very much for your suggestion, but I just can't think of a way to utilize the SH-16S.''

I received a letter from a secretary who works as a producer (with a Totoro stamp).
